After the logs have burned down the remaining hot coals are "raked" or spread out over the hearth, where they are left to burn down to embers.

APPLE SEASON

We spent a Saturday afternoon picking apples and ended up coming home with a bushel of Golden Delicious, what are we going to do with all these apples? I fired the oven then we peeled, cut and seasoned the apples left and filled 13 pie crusts.

Crisp topping goes on the apple pies and 2 pumpkin pies are also made and placed in the oven, it took about 1 hr to bake the 15 pies. I think the neighborhood was filled with the smell of baking apple pies, now what do we do with 13 apple & 2 pumpkin pies?
